Artemide understands light as a responsibility. Using resources mindfully does not mean compromising on power — on the contrary: with precision, research, and respect for the environment, luminaires are created that achieve maximum impact with minimal input. Efficiency and expressiveness, technology and sensitivity come together. Sustainability and performance are not contradictory but rather merge into a unity that illuminates the present without burdening the future.
Patents
Artemide stands for innovation and continuous research. The large number of patents is a visible expression of this attitude and proves how consistently the company translates its vision into unique solutions.
Emissions
The 2023 report shows a 52% reduction in Scope 1 and 2 emissions compared to the first measurement year. Artemide is consistently committed to sustainably reducing consumption and emissions.
Employees
Several hundred people work for Artemide worldwide, including 60 in the company’s own research and development center and 56 solely dedicated to serving the German-speaking markets.
Tons of CO²
For 25 years, 3,375 m² of solar panels at the company headquarters in Italy have been saving significant amounts of greenhouse gases.
Effiency
New lighting systems such as Somnĭum, Helgoland, A.39 and Hoy achieve an exceptionally high efficiency with Artemide’s patented Refractive technology.
For Artemide, sustainability has always been part of its identity. Today, as the topic is more urgent than ever, we see ourselves as an active and responsible shaper of the future. Through research, innovation, and a strong ethos, Artemide demonstrates that light can be both powerful and resource-efficient — a contribution to a world where progress and responsibility are inseparably linked.
Somnĭum
Somnĭum is an innovative lighting system that seamlessly integrates optics, structure, and production into a single, sophisticated solution. At its core is a patented optical cell that combines lens and reflector into one element. Its refined geometry directs the light beam with precision, achieving unparalleled visual comfort with a UGR value of <16 for a glare-free lighting experience.
Criosfera
Criosfera is inspired by the ice cores that scientists extract from the depths of Antarctica to study the past and present state of our climate — the perfect symbol of climate change. The mouth-blown glass luminaire reminds us that we are not only responsible for the crisis but also capable of contributing to its solution. It provides gentle, pleasant light while serving as a powerful call to action.
Internode
Internode by Stephen Philips, Arup, combines sustainable materials with outstanding engineering. The laminated bamboo structure is lightweight, stable and durable. Precisely crafted friction joints and counterweights made of Zamak ensure perfect balance and smooth, fluid movement.
